| Specialty Meetings Specialty Meetings increase GSA’s visibility and reputation in the professional community and beyond by providing venues for focused discussion of topics of scientific and public policy importance. They can help us to achieve our strategic goals and objectives, including among others expanding our range of scientific topics, collaborating with our Associated & Allied Societies and other partners, holding international meetings, and fostering dialogue with the public and decision-makers. Recent meetings include Earth System Processes (Edinburgh, 2001) and Earth System Processes 2 (Calgary, 2005), Wildland Fire Impacts on Watersheds (Denver, 2003), and the recently completed Backbone of the Americas—Patagonia to Alaska (Mendoza, 2006). Managing Drought and Water Scarcity in Vulnerable Environments: Creating a Roadmap for Change in the United States will take place September 2006 in the Boulder area.
